El Tip de hoy:

CALL IT A DAY! - Today we're looking at an expression that describes how you feel right now.
Don't believe us? check it out, and join us in calling it a day.
And while we're at it, FYI - we're calling it a year!

Yes.. Mercedes talks quickly... so if you need a little help following the video, or you simply want to look at the vocabulary more in detail, here's the tapescript:

Hello Hello, what's up people? Today we're going to be looking at this expression, because honestly...

The basic explanation of call it a day is when you want to stop a particular activity at the end of the day. So you look at the time, it's six o ‘clock and you say, yeah, I'm going to call it a day. Meaning, I'm going to finish working and do something else.

So... many times call it a day when the activity is not going well, and we want to stop and start fresh the next day. But sometimes in a less literal sense you just want to stop altogether because you've had enough.

Bonustip! You can also call it a night, like in these examples...And at this point in 2020, I don't know about you, but I'm soo ready to call it a year. Too early? I don't care, I'm calling it a freakin' year!
