Dos semanas antes de cumplir los 100 años (el 17 de enero), falleció este viernes 31 la actriz estadounidense Betty White, según informó CNN.

Protagonizó diversas series de televisión y películas, entre ellas Los años dorados (The Golden Girls) desde 1985 a 1992, su papel más recordado. Tan solo dos días antes de su muerte, White tuiteó sobre su centésimo cumpleaños: "No puedo creer que esté cerca", escribió.

"Aunque Betty estaba por cumplir 100 años, pensé que viviría para siempre", dijo su agente —y cercano amigo— Jeff Witjas. "La extrañaré muchísimo, así como también lo hará el mundo animal que ella amó tanto. No creo que Betty le temiera a la muerte porque siempre quería estar con su amado esposo, Allen Ludden", fallecido en 1981 a sus 63 años. "Ella creía que estaría con él otra vez", añadió Witjas.

White fue honorada por Guinness World Records como la actriz con la carrera televisiva más longeva. Comenzó su carrera en el cine en 1945 y en la televisión cinco años más tarde. Ha formado parte de más de 30 películas y alrededor de 110 series.

Diversas celebridades internacionales lamentaron la pérdida de la actriz en las redes sociales e incluso el presidente Joe Biden le dedicó unas palabras.
